Don’t Let Those Insurance Benefits Expire!

2017 is almost over, and that means it’s time to talk about vision insurance. Most insurance companies don’t let their vision benefits roll over into the next year if they go unused. If you know your insurance covers your vision and haven’t taken advantage of all your benefits, then now is the time to do so!

Is Your Coverage Compatible?
Our office accepts most insurance plans including Select Health, VSP, EyeMed, Medicare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield just to name a few. Not sure if we are in network with your plan? Call our office and talk to one of our amazing receptionists. They are happy to provide a complimentary benefits check on your specific plan to help you maximize your benefits. If we are in network with your insurance, we submit the insurance for you. If we are out of network, we can help you submit and get reimbursed from your insurance. We also accept patients who do not currently have vision insurance and we also offer Care Credit.

Commonly Covered Procedures
In addition to providing thorough exams for glasses and contact lenses, we also provide medical eye exams. Not sure which one you need? It comes down to your main concern for coming in. If you feel you may need an update to improve your vision and you want an idea of how your eye health is doing, we will provide a comprehensive eye exam. If your eyes are dry, watery, itchy, gritty, or just not feeling as great as you think they should, Dr. Fife will perform a medical eye exam. He tests for and manages diseases such as dry eye and eye allergies as well as glaucoma, macular degeneration and other sight threatening eye diseases. He also performs annual dilated diabetic eye exams for patients with diabetes. He also takes eye emergencies (got something in your eye?), and monitors cataracts and co-manages for cataract and LASIK surgery.

One of the services we offer that is unique to our office is our eyeWellness exam (insurance does not cover this). We offer this to all individuals 18 and older in conjunction with an annual eye exam. It’s comprised of taking a photo and a scan of the inside of the eye. It allows Dr. Fife the ability to detect eye diseases early and monitor changes from year to year. He has also been able to pick up on systemic diseases like hypertension and diabetes because of the changes in the photos and scans. By being proactive, early detection of diseases will lead to better outcomes long term.
