When thinking of bifocal lenses, most people think of the lined bifocals they remember seeing their parents wear. Believe it or not, lined bifocals go way back before their parent’s time.

In fact, Benjamin Franklin is the inventor of the bifocal lens. Nowadays, we have options. Lined bifocals are just one option. Progressive, no-line bifocals are another. Of course, there are benefits and disadvantages to all options, some are just more obvious than others. These include cosmetic appearance, functionality and cost.
